Hello dear followers!
Today in class we held a retrospective about the last sprint and sorted out where we can improve and streamline our development process.
Of course, universities are allergic to technology and … that’s why we used Flipcharts!
Here you can see that we see our greatest potential in communication – even when we are only two people, communication is important. It happened to us that we both worked on topics the other person didn’t quite understand and so we didn’t communicate any problems or learning procedures we encountered.
Also we finish our task always on the last call which stresses us out. That’s why its our second goal to get our time management back on track.
Our last point focuses on our goals. Before we start developing, we need to make sure what to develop. That may not be needed when you are working alone, but in groups it is essential.
We are trying to solve these issues, by documenting and meeting more so we can work on clearly defined tasks.
To get our ego up again however we received the task to write down what we find cool in our own project.
Some of the cool things we did were direct results of our weakness – just recklessly starting development on cool things. The best example for that is our Cube, which spawned into existence by our brilliant minds within the first week of the project.
However after we sorted out mistakes from good practice, we decided to keep our good behavior like good working morale and our ambition.
Thanks for reading our post, we hope you can learn something.
Sincerely,
Hi GyroGame Team,
I like, that you show your priorities of the things, that need some improvement.
You wrote with two different colours on your sheets. Does this have a meaning?
You say that you want to write down your goals before you are developing. Is it something different, than your requirements documentation or your scrum issues?
Keep up your good work,
Kind regards,
Nathalie from Orchestra-Team
Hey Nathalie,
So… Yes, the colors do have a meaning to us. It means that one of us wrote with the blue marker and the other person used the black one 😉.
Writing down our goals is basically just about properly clearing up our minds and deciding on how exactly some features of the game are going to look like.
Thank you for your comment!
Regards,
Manu
Dear GyroGame Team,
on the first flipchart I can see a note, saying “less Whatsapp”. Have you thought about alternatives for your communication, or do you just want to talk more in person?
Good work!
Kolja@Evendo
We think that mostly boils down to “more live communication” again. Actually talking about the project in person helps so much more than just using chat services.
